His Majesty awards medals

103 National Day 18 December, 2010 - In the tradition of National Days, His Majesty The King honoured those who had served the People and Country with exceptional effort and merit.

Druk Thuksey:

Goongloen Lam Dorji – for 49 years of service under the Third and Fourth Druk Gyalpos. His Majesty said Lam Dorji had already received the highest awards of the nation but was being recognized today as a symbolic gesture to present him to the youth as an example and to show that, ‘service to the nation shall never go forgotten.’
Goongloen Wogma V Namgyal – for exemplary service to HM the fourth Druk Gyalpo since 1972. His Majesty said ‘his service is remarkable for the way in which he treated all whom he met with humility, fairness and integrity.’ He continues to serve the nation ably as Ambassador to India.
Tshampa Penjo – having spent most of his life in deep meditation and prayer, he has been an example and teacher for many accomplished monks and lams. In a spiritual kingdom, his example is one of ‘true faith and selflessness,’ said His Majesty.

Druk Khorlo:

Dasho Karma Ura – he was recognized with the Bura Marp in 2006 for his services as an outstanding civil servant. His Majesty said that Ura had worked very hard and become known as a gifted author and renowned academic as well as an accomplished painter and historian and that ‘his work will continue to benefit the future generations.’

National Order of Merit (Gold):

Karma Wangdi – His Majesty said that Karma was ‘adored by the youth for his devotion to his work with them and is known affectionately by them all as Asha Karma.’ His Majesty said that hundreds of children had benefitted from his voluntary work.
