a dynamic production and network office based in the Netherlands
bhutan+partners connect people and organizations all over the world to
partners in Bhutan. We facilitate and initiate creative programs in the
areas of business, sport and culture.
The year 2008 was a special year in Bhutan: the Royal Centenary celebrations took place throughout the country; the present King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck was crowned the fifth Druk Gyalpo; for the first time general elections took place; and parliament endorsed the constitution. Reasons enough for a celebration! With music and a gift to tighten the friendly relationship between Bhutan and The Netherlands.
Bhutan+partners contributed to the celebrations by organising the first-ever classical piano concerts in Thimphu and by presenting a grand piano and musical instruments to Bhutan. The grand piano was handed over to Lyonpo Ugyen Tshering, then minister of Foreign Affairs prior to the concert by the well-known Dutch piano duo, Wyneke Jordans and Leo van Doeselaar. The duo played the grand piano in the Royal Banquet Hall in Thimphu. Musical instruments were donated to the Kilu Music School in Thimphu.
Bhutan+partners organized the grand piano project, shipped the grand piano, invited Wyneke Jordans and Leo van Doeselaar to perform in Bhutan and organized the concert in Bhutan together with the Royal Government of Bhutan.
Bhutan+partners were supported by a recommending committee consisting of late Paul Brouwer, Boudewijn van Ittersum – former chairman of the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, Simon Reinink – Chief Executive of the Concertgebouw NV in Amsterdam and the members of the Dutch Rock Band Bløf.
Partners in the program were the RGOB, Kilu Music School, Chenzig, Etho Metho, the Royal Dutch Embassy in New Delhi, Classique BV, Transpack Shipping Services, Stichting Fonds Ontwikkeling Opleiding Pianotechniek, HMC mbo vakschool, and private persons.
