first Bhutanese piano tuner

Samten Chhophel became Bhutan’s first trained piano tuner in August 2010. He followed a piano tuning course at the HMC training Institute in Amsterdam from 2009 to 2010 after he’d been selected by the Dutch piano tuner Simon Jorritsma. Simon Jorritsma had tuned the grand piano upon arrival in Thimphu in November 2008. While in the Netherlands Samten also followed private piano lessons. Upon return to Bhutan Samten became junior teacher at the Kilu Music School and takes care of the grand piano at the Royal Banquet hall in Thimphu.

Bhutan+partners secured funds for Samten’s training, coordinated the training, assisted the teachers at the training Institute in Amsterdam and monitored his  achievements. Bhutan+partners also reported to the sponsor and to the Kilu Music school.
