Bhutan+partners assessed the film industry in Bhutan in 2011 together with Bhutanese and European experts on film making, distribution and marketing.

The assessment covered all stages of filmmaking and production including distribution and marketing, within Bhutan and worldwide and focussed on profitability and quality development. The analysis of the present situation of the film industry in Bhutan resulted in a report - Bhutan Film Industry 29-12-2011-  that also includes recommendations to make the film industry commercially viable.

The European team was headed by Mr Ad Westrate. Thukten Yeshey  from Bhutan was a member of the research team. He was supported by Dechen Rhoder and Tashi Gyaltshen. Ad Weststrate was also supported by Gerard Bunnik in the Netherlands and Barbara Adler from Denmark.

The  Royal Office of Media, ROM, was bhutan+partners’ main partner in Bhutan for the assessment.

Bhutan+partners secured funds for the assessment, established the assessment team, supported the team in the preparational phase, organized logistics and edited the report. Bhutan+partners reported to the funding agency and will follow up on the outcome of the assessment in 2012.
