Mr. Passang Dorji and Mr. Kinzang Tobgay, associate directors Druk Holding & Investments (DHI), visited the Netherlands for a business tour on invitation of bhutan+partners from 17 – 22 September 2012. They explored new entrepreneurial venues for DHI and enterprises in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Enterprises in mineral, cement, hemp, finance sectors and credit facilities were visited among others. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affaires hosted a workshop for the delegation members, which was attended by representatives of ORIO, FDOV (Agentschap), center for Export promotion (CBI), and representatives of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The honorary consul of Bhutan to the Netherlands also participated in the meeting.
The Netherlands Senior Management Program (PUM) discussed possibilities to open its program to Bhutan with Mr Dorji and Mr Tobgay.
The mission further elaborated on investment opportunities with the film and convention centre industries.

We are happy and proud to present the newest Dutch tulip to be named ‘Queen of Bhutan': a tulip with deep red petals edged with golden yellow. The tulip symbolizes the friendship and longstanding relation between the Netherlands and Bhutan, and reflects besides the national colours of Bhutan, Her Majesty’s personality: “warm and kind in heart and mind”.
Erica Terpstra and Henk de Jong (bhutan+partners) revealed the new tulip, produced in the Netherlands by FLUWEL at a special occasion during the Bhutan Day at the Floriade 2012.
The tulip was revealed at the Floriade World Stage Theatre in the presence of the special envoy of the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Lyonpo Dago Tshering, the Ambassador of Bhutan to the EU in Brussels, His Excellency Sonam Tshong, the Floriade 2012 General Director, Mr. Paul Beck and many other distinguished guests, friends of Bhutan and Bhutanese students.
Mrs. Erica Terpstra explained that the tulip selected by Her Majesty the Queen of Bhutan, Ashi Jetsun Pema Wangchuck, also reflects her character as expressed by his Majesty the King of Bhutan: ‘warm and kind in heart and mind’. The Queen of Bhutan tulip will soon be launched in Bhutan and available at the Gardeners’ shop of Mrs. Tshering Yanki at Centenary Market in Thimphu.

The ‘Queen of Bhutan’ tulip will be launched on 22 September 2012, 11.00 am, at the Bhutan day – Floriade, World Horticultural Expo in Venlo, The Netherlands.
Her Majesty Jetsun Pema Wangchuck, married His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan on 13 October 2011. On this historic occasion the people of the Netherlands presented a Dutch tulip, named ‘Queen of Bhutan’, to the young queen as a wedding gift. Her Majesty selected the tulip early 2012.
The Queen of Bhutan tulip will officially be launched on 22 September 2012 at the Bhutan day on the Floriade, World Horticultural Expo in Venlo, The Netherlands. Mrs Erica Terpstra, former president NOC/NSF, member of parliament, and Minister, will official hand over the ‘Queen of Bhutan’ tulip to the special envoy of the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Lyonpo Dago Tshering, who will receive the tulip on behalf of HM Jestun Pema Wangchuck.
The ‘Queen of Bhutan’ tulip symbolizes the longstanding relation and friendship between Bhutan and The Netherlands and expresses Her Majesty’s personality: ‘warm and kind in heart and mind’.
The ‘Queen of Bhutan’ tulip is an initiative of bhutan+partners and is supported by the Netherlands Embassy in New Delhi.
The Tulip is cultivated in the Netherlands by Fluwel and will also be sold in Bhutan at the Gardeners shop, Centenay market in Thimphu Bhutan.
