update sport program

posted in News | by Editor

The Sport program in Bhutan is taking shape after the meetings and workshops held in June and July 2010, and decisions taken at that time.
Ms Rinzin Wangmo, Karma Lam, Kesang and Tshewang  discussed and finalize plans for the youth centre renovation and the sports facility construction. Ms Rinzin submitted a list of items to be purchased for the up gradation of the centre.  Estimates are being prepared for  the painting, grill works, and flooring. Unless skilled labors are required most of the work will be done by the youth. The team plans to complete this work by the end of September.
DYS and the team from YDF are working together on the construction of the sport facility and  the Engineering Cell of the RBP has been asked to prepare an estimate for the construction.
Small meetings were held between Kesang, Tashi and some of the youth. These meetings decided that every month, at least 2 youth forums will be held. The youth also decided on colors for painting the centre, and volunteered to help in the overall renovation works. For painting work, Asha Karma of Vast will be requested to supervise and advise. The meeting also agreed that Nala (Chang Jiji youth) would be a core member among the youth and would work in close conjunction with our staff. He is also a resident of Chang Jiji.
Lama Zhenphen agreed to start meditation classes for the youth from the 19th of September every Sunday from 11am – 12pm at the youth centre in Chang JiJi. We also plan to approach Xochi from VAST to help us with art and sculpturing class, and Jurmey the executive editor for the Drukpa magazine to help with articles related to our project, and the youth in Chang Jiji.
Hirimo from DYS, a JOCV volunteer also agreed to help with the art and craft class, which will be held every Saturday once the program list has been finalized.
To be continued!
