Business program Netherlands - Bhutan
In December 2009 Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk, the minister of Economic Affairs RGOB had a meeting with Henk de Jong (Bhutan+Partners), on possible business relations between Bhutan and the Netherlands. Consultations with the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce, representatives of the business community in Thimphu and the Netherlands ambassador in New Delhi led to the conclusion that business relations between Bhutan and the Netherlands are likely to be explored in the areas of sustainable, environmental friendly production and development of social enterprises.
A selected group of Netherlands business people will visit Bhutan to identify possible areas of collaboration in September 2010. A business conference will be held for international CSR businesses in Thimphu, early 2011
Bhutan+Partners will support the program in exploring networks and identifying possible partners and business opportunities in close contact with the RGOB, Bhutanese stakeholders, the Dutch consulate in Thimphu and the Netherlands Embassy in New Delhi.

Bhutan + Partners coordinates the Sports Coalitions in Action Programme 2009 - 2011 for Bhutan, funded by The Netherlands Ministry of Public Health, Welfare and Sports.__
The program in Bhutan aims at social and economic inclusion of out of school youth unemployed and at risk of juvenile crimes, drugs and alcohol-abuse. The project will be carried out by Bhutanese and Dutch organizations and will link up to the national youth policy.
A mission from Bhutan, including Mrs Dorji Ohm and Mr Karma Lam - Youth Development Fund, Mr Nima Gyeltshen - Ministry of Education - Department of Youth and Sports and Mr Tshering Dorji - Superintendent Royal Bhutan Police, visited the Netherlands from 8 to 15 November 2009. The main objective of the familiarization mission was to meet Dutch organizations involved in sports and community based work, discuss the influx of sports in society and health development, visit programmes on harm reduction, drug and alcohol abuse and sports programs for early school leavers and unemployed youth. The team visited Doenja Services in Utrecht, Mainline and Sport-it in Amsterdam and met with representatives of the Ministry of Public Health, Welfare and Sports and USBO, Utrecht.
Henk de Jong, Frank van Eekeren, Mark Blankwater and a representative of Mainline visited Bhutan in December 2009 and January 2010 to start with the implementation of the sports programme together with Bhutanese partners. Mr van Eekeren, senior consultant and researcher at the School of Governance in Utrecht will work on the M&E system, Mr Blankwater will start working at grass root level together with Mainline and Bhutanese partners.

Threat of glacial lake outburst flooding (GLOF) in Bhutan

Bhutan+Partners together with Tsherting Gyeltshen,TGMI, and Peter Jan van der Burg are producing a documentary about the Thorthormi Glacial Lake in Bhutan. The documentary is expected to be ready in February 2010.
A documentary about a disaster likely to take place if the Bhutanese do not manage to drain water out of the lake before it's walls crack.
